Hal is a Canadian-born, Los Angeles–based, award-winning photographer specializing in portraiture, editorial, and dance imagery. His work is known for its dynamic sense of movement, capturing subjects with energy, grace, and precision.

Drawing from a 25-year career as a professional dancer, Hal brings an intuitive understanding of motion and the human form to every shoot, allowing moments to feel both intentional and effortless.

He is the recipient of an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work for his photography book, I Am Dance: Words & Images of the Black Dancer — a powerful project that elevates and amplifies underrepresented voices within the dance community.
